The Innovation LabA local business,
a team, a deliverable.
In the Innovation Lab, teams apply the tools from the five steps to a business that is not their own. Each team is assigned to one local business with an operational gap, learns to consult the business and identify its weaknesses, and produces a deliverable that addresses them. Consulting other companies trains founders to spot the same weaknesses in their own ventures, and gives them hands-on consulting experience they can carry into their careers.
Approximately 20 days before the program begins, each team of 3 to 4 students receives a case study of its assigned business containing the information needed to produce the consulting deliverable.
Matched
Each team is paired with one local business. The team meets the owner, reviews the business's operations, and identifies the operational gap to address.
Diagnosed
The team diagnoses the operational gap before building, then constructs the specific deliverable that addresses it. No pre-built template is applied.
Delivered
On Demo Day the team delivers the completed work to the owner in person: a pricing model, a marketing plan, or a website.
